{Review} Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation + Powder

{Review} Maybelline New York Fit Me Foundation + Powder

A couple of months ago Maybelline New York South Africa announced that the Fit Me foundations and powders will finally be launched in South Africa. As they said on facebook “you asked, we delivered”. This was greeted with a lot of enthusiasm from beauty loves all over the country. Numerous posts caught my eye of people asking for help to locate their ideal shade and which stores has stock.

Ordering Maybelline New York Fit Me! Online

I waited it out a bit and finally decided to order them online when Foschini For Beauty had a sale. Now you are probably wondering how I knew which shade to order. I used an online app that takes your current foundation brand and shade match and converts it for you to the shade in the brand you are looking for. You can check out Findation.com to find out what’s your shade in any foundation. According to the site I’m 120, classic ivory, this is the second lightest shade in the shade selection. I ordered the Foundation and Powder for R99 each. So let’s find out if Fit Me is worth the hype!

Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation

Maybelline Says: Fit Me Matte & Poreless Foundation fits both skin and texture for natural finish and poreless looking skin. It’s been designed for normal to oily skin. Its blurring micro powders refines pores while shine is being absorbed for a natural matte finish.

I Say

Packaging: The packaging is just a regular tube and tends to be a bit messy, especially after a flight. I would have preferred if it had a little nozzle to control how much product you get out.

Formula: This foundation is very light and I like that it gives me medium coverage. A little goes a long way and I find it easy to apply and blend. My tool of choice for this baby is my beauty blender. It minimizes my pores as promised and keeps me matte. I won’t say it pushes the matte effect to the extreme, which I like. I still look natural just not shiny.

Wear: It wears really well and stays put, except in extreme heat when almost everything just melts off your face. I found this foundation also sticks around well with humidity (just as long as the heat factor isn’t too much)

Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder

Maybelline Says: Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder mattifies and leaves a poreless-looking finish with long-lasting shine control. Ideal for normal to oily skin, this long-lasting powder leaves a natural, poreless-looking finish with long-lasting shine control. Perlite Mineral technology absorbs oil to mattify skin, while pores virtually disappear thanks to blurring micro-powders.

I Say

Packaging: The packaging is a compact that is easy to open and clips closed making sure your powder is protected from dust.

Formula: This powder is very fine and easy to work with. I’ve tried it with other foundations as well and it immediately eliminates shine and keeps me mostly shine free throughout the day. My application tool of choice for this is a fluffy powder brush. A couple of swirls is enough to cover my entire face.

Wear: I find the powder very light weight and it wears well throughout the day. It is however, just like the foundation, not extreme heat proof when my face starts melting.

Overall Thoughts

The two products work really well together, I found the shade 120 a little bit too dark for me but it lightens up when I apply the powder. I am probably a shade between 110 and 120 but I’m making it work. I won’t recommend these for someone with dry skin. My friend Ilona tried it ant it didn’t work well for her so it isn’t for everyone. If you are a bit on the oily side and not a fan of extreme full coverage this one is for you. The shade selection is actually also not too bad and includes darker and lighter shades. Is it worth the hype? For the quality product for the price point it’s selling for I would say yes! RSP R110

Have you tried the Fit Me products?

Looking forward to reading your review, next time we should each buy one of the shades and share half half

I loved the Fit Me foundation! Agree that it is not quite a matte finish and because it is not drying it all it works so well on my SUPER dry skin. I was amazed by the pore reduction ability and the coverage is good and so light weight. The only down side is the mild oxidation and then to navigate the shade range is a whole headache on its own. But I loooove it and use it nearly on a daily basis.

I’m glad to hear it works on your dry skin! This product is really a hit for some and a miss for others. I’m glad we are on the hit boat xx

I really enjoyed this review. I am dying to try this but so on the fence because I have dry skin and it works for some with dry skin and not others.

Tried the powder…also Classic Ivory but sadly it seems a bit too dark for my fair complexion so it doesn’t look nice.. bummer otherwise would like it

The powder seems lighter than the foundation when I apply it, so if you ever go for the foundation get the lighter shade!
