I read Chereen’s 40 Questions Beauty Tag over on her blog, For The Beauty of It and I left her a little comment love, we have a love for similar products and she asked if I’m keen to do the tag as well. So here are my answers to 40 beauty questions!
How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice on full makeup days and once on lazy no makeup stay at home days.
What skin type do you have?
Combination skin but I tend to get dry patches during winter on my forehead where in summer I struggle with oiliness.
What is your current facial wash?
I’m using 3 different ones at the moment, Olay Regenerist Skin Perfecting Cleanser, Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser and Ponds Flawless Radiance foam wash.
Do you exfoliate?
My facial cleanser doubles as a light exfoliater and I use the Olay Regenerist once a week
What brand do you use?
For affordable brands I love Ponds and Nivea and then more on the luxury side I’m enjoying the Clarins cleanser and Kiehl’s products
What moisturiser do you use?
Kiehl’s Supper Multi Corrective Cream
Do you have freckles?
Yes but not many.
Do you use eye cream?
I sometimes do, but tend to lean more towards an eye serum than a cream.
Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I was very lucky even through high school to never suffer from acne, I just had and still get spots here and there once in a while.
Invest in a konjac sponge (it doesn’t have to be an original) and use it together with your cleanser, it’s really gentle and helps cleansing those pores..
What foundation do you use?
I am not a huge foundation fan, but I currently use the Catrice matte mousse but I love using a BB or CC cream, Garnier is my favourite BB cream brand at the moment and if I am looking for a more illuminated dewy finish I opt for my Avon CC cream.
How about concealer?
Currently I’m using the L.A Girl Pro Concealer as well as the Catrice concealer stick, the L.A Girl provides really good coverage where as the Catrice concealer is really light and can be used without a foundation if you feel like covering up something on a no makeup day.
Do you know your undertone colour?
I’m not entirely sure but I think it’s pink.
What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I like the extra dramatic look for a special occasion, I used them to a wedding once but it was so hot I sweat them off even before the starter was served.
Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes yes I know, why do they make the tubes so large ?!
What brand of mascara do you use?
I love L’Oreal and Maybelline but I use Almay, Catrice, Revlon, you name it, I’m a huge mascara hoarder.
Make Up Item that you can’t seem to get enough of?
Most definitely mascara and these days lipsticks too!
Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
Fingers, blush brush, slanted eyeshadow brush, big eyeshadow brush and my duel ended eyeshadow brush and sometimes I throw my fan brush into the mix (I always forget to use my eyelash curler)
What are your favourite brushes?
I love my three Elizabeth Arden brushes – blush, eyeshadow and slanted eyeshadow as well as my Cala brushes, which I have the same of.
Do you use primer for the eyes?
Yes I do, I love the Catrice eyeshadow base that I reviewed here.
For the face?
I’ve tried a smashbox sample once it made my face really smooth, another brand I tried left my face oily so I think I should experiment with it a bit more.
What is your favourite eye shadow shade?
I love any brown shade, it makes my eyes look really blue.
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Pencil eyeliner, I get the liquid liner in my eyes…. it burns!
What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I’ve never tried pigment eyeshadows but they look interesting.
Do you use mineral makeup?
Nope I do not.
What is your favourite lipstick?
Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in Personna ne Rouge, it’s a vibrant red colour and it stays on forever.
How about lipgloss?
I love lipgloss, one of my current favourites is the Clarins
What is your favourite blush to use?
I’ve only recently started getting comfy with blush and I love the ones from my Elizabeth Arden compacts, the Bourjois little pot blush is nice as well and it smells amazing.
Where do you buy your make-up online?
I’ve from Woolworths online before but I like swatching before buying.
Do you like drugstore makeup?
Yes, I can take long walks in the makeup isle in Dischem and Clicks
Your favourite in SA?
Dischem and Clicks (even tho the Clicks stores near me doesn’t stock many brands I am just happy I can find Bourjois!)
Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I have considered it, but the place I enquired at never got back to me so I lost interest a bit.
Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
I used to be really clumsy but thanks to YouTube I got a lot better, there is still many techniques I can learn and master tho
Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Ladies that cake on foundation and then it’s in the wrong shade.
Worst general-beauty crime?
Lip liner that doesn’t match the lipstick…..
Do you like colourful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
Neutral shades for eyes and colourfull shades for lips

If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Any one of my mascaras
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, where I live it’s the norm, I am one of the few people I socialize with that actually apply a full face of makeup when going to a party, so if I’m just popping down to the store I’ve gone without any makeup before.
Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I think so, especially with a just washed face!
In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Personally I love Bourjois and Almay. Bourjois has very good quality long-lasting makeup while Almay has hypoallergenic products, which are great for me as I wear contact lenses.
What do you think of make up in general?
I love makeup and it’s only a recent thing, I just think it’s wonderful how you can enhance the beauty that was already there or even create dramatic flair on the odd occasion.
